Forget about a vet having to test the dogs temperment, wannabe dog owners should be made to take an I.Q. test. Sounds silly but think about it, the driving theory test wasn't introduced until 1996, if every dog had to be microchipped (fines if caught without chip) and every owner was held FULLY acountable for any accidents (as in A.B.H. charges or possibly attempted/murder) then we would see just how confident people were that their dog "doesn't bite". By the way I have a big boy black, white and brindle staff and do you know how many teeth he's got.

Doesn't bite, yeah right.

Put down the owner, dogs will be dogs, it was our choice to breed them, our choice to walk them in public and our choice to give them the oppurtunity to attack children. It's like we are God or something because it is then our choice to destroy them!!!

i have owned a couple of staffies since being a small child. im now 31.was born in 1981. i remember when i was little taking my dog everywhere with me. there was not really many dogs around then. especially staffs. we were really the only family that owned them back then. obviously the more dogs you have in one area the more likely trhere is to be conflicts.i never had any problems with my dog or other dogs fighting etc. i can say now people that own dogs in my area in 2012 is unbelivable. nearly every household owns one. and over the years the growing trend for staffs imparticular is huge where i live. so many teenagers own them and they just do not have the skills or training in place to bring up a puppy in the right way. the amount of times i see youths hanging them off trees or teaching them to bite humans. when is every one going to realise that humans are to blame. these loving loyal dogs are only taught what to do and how to please. and it should be the human owner that needs the punishment. our dogs were family pets.they were never aggressive at all because they were brought up with love. another thing that annoys me is why do people always go on about there children in parks and that they dislike dogs being off there lead. i have a child and when he was a toddler i let him be normal and run around and if a dog did approach him i would keep an eye but wouldnt get panincked and give evils to the owner. there are plenty of childrens swing parks and parks that have no dog areas like flower gardens. why dont you moaners go there instead if it bothers you so much.

i agree doesnt matter what the breed is every dog bites if backed into a corner or feels threatend. i have a staffie and she is brilliant with my 3 kids they play all the time with each other. i always keep my whitz about me cause she still a pup and encourge my kids not too be 2 ruff with her or bother her too much. at the end of the day a think owners of the dogs have summit 2 do with it if they train them 2 bite they will bite or be 2 protective then they will gaurd or treat them bad the dog will attack anyone it doesnt trust

What is this Boxer type thing? It either was a Boxer or not a Boxer!! I see they managed to ID the Staffie funny don't you think!! Lets face it they just want to get rid of Staffies at the moment so when the "Chavs" another media pigeonhole can't have Staffies they will go onto another breed & the media will want to get rid of that breed why not just go the whole hog & ban dogs all together & be done with it oh no then it will be cats that attack people & they will want to get rid of those as well see how silly it's becoming!!

My friend is a nurse in the NHS one of the worse dog bites she has ever seen was from a Golden Retriever! This is one of the dogs that everybody goes on about when talking about a family dog! All dogs no matter what their breed is capable of doing harm but then again all humans are capable of doing harm but I don't see them being put down for doing something bad! Blame the deed not the breed it's time we looked at the owners, if you know your dog has a problem with either other dogs or children then keep it muzzled or go out at times when you know it will be relatively clear of both, I have two Staffordshire Bull Terriers one (having been attacked twice by big dogs GSD & a Husky) is unsure of other large dogs so I put him on his lead when big dogs are around the other dog is not bothered but if another dog goes to mount him then that's a different matter he doesn't like it & he will let the other dog know it by either growling or barking after all if he was human we would say no means no!
